Embrace the Shift: A Personal Journey with The 9318 Collective

April is upon us, and as I reflect on the journey of The 9318 Collective, nestled in the heart of Silverton, Colorado, I can't help but feel a surge of excitement and anticipation. For those unfamiliar, The 9318 Collective isn't just a local art cooperative; it's my labor of love, my creative haven, and my community.

Opening the doors in June 2020 was a leap of faith, filled with its fair share of challenges and uncertainties. Yet, here we are, on the cusp of our fifth season, stronger and more vibrant than ever. Situated on 1212 Greene Street, amidst the rugged beauty of this historic mining town turned traveler's destination, The Collective stands as a testament to resilience and reinvention.

As I prepare to usher in another season of art and creativity, April brings with it a sense of renewal and possibility. It's a time for fresh ideas, new faces, and the promise of endless potential. What began as a modest venture has blossomed into a thriving community of nearly 20 local artists, each bringing their unique vision and voice to the space.

But The 9318 Collective is more than just a place to display art; it's a family—a tight-knit circle of creative souls bound together by a shared passion for expression and connection. In navigating the ups and downs of small business ownership in a seasonal town, we've inadvertently forged bonds that run deeper than mere camaraderie. We support, uplift, and inspire one another, serving as pillars of strength in times of uncertainty, and celebrating each other's successes along the way, reminding us of the power of collaboration and camaraderie in our creative journey.

As April unfolds, I find myself filled with gratitude for the journey thus far and excitement for the road ahead. Spring cleaning takes on a whole new meaning as we dust off our canvases, polish our jewelry, and breathe new life into our shared space. It's a time of preparation, anticipation, and joyful anticipation for the bustling summer season ahead.

Artist Kim Eisner brings smiles and laughter wherever she goes, even on a rainy day.

So here's to April, a month of transition and transformation. Here's to embracing the shift, embracing new beginnings, and embracing the vibrant tapestry of art and community that defines The 9318 Collective. And if you ever find yourself wandering the streets of Silverton, Colorado, I invite you to stop by, say hello, and become a part of our ever-growing family. After all, there's always room for one more in the circle of creativity.

Meet My Imaginary Boyfriend: The Rugged Cowboy Who Stole My Heart

Hey there, fellow art lover and aficionado!

It's that time of year again – the month of my husband's birthday, where I get to celebrate the man who stole my heart. But amidst all of the birthday festivities, there's a little secret I have to share with you all… Meet my imaginary boyfriend.

Yes, you read that right. My imaginary boyfriend is not your typical suave charmer or dashing prince. No, he's a rugged cowboy, captured in the strokes of heavy body acrylic paints on a 16"x20" canvas. His name? "Perspective."

“Perspective”

Now, you might be wondering how on earth a painting becomes an imaginary boyfriend.

Well, let me tell you the tale. "Perspective" wasn't just any painting; he was a masterpiece of abstract realism, with a pensive look that spoke volumes. He exuded grit and grace, with eyes that seemed to see through anyone's BS, including his own. Hence the name – Perspective.

When I first displayed Perspective, little did I know the whirlwind of attention he would garner. Soon, he wasn't just a painting; he was "My Imaginary Boyfriend." People would come into The 9318 Collective, gaze at his rugged features, and inevitably, someone would ask, "Who's the lucky guy?" And boy were they entertained when I told the story!

But alas, all good things must come to an end. The original Perspective found a new home, leaving me with a pang of separation anxiety. I mean, who wouldn't miss their imaginary boyfriend?

However, fear not, dear reader, for there's a silver lining in every cloud. In honor of my husband's birthday month, I've decided to share the love and offer a special treat for all of you.

Say hello to the giclee print of the month – none other than my beloved imaginary boyfriend.

These prints, with their deckled (torn) edges, exude museum-quality charm. And the best part? They're now available at a whopping 50% off for the entire month of April, priced at just $33 for an 8"x10". That's right – you can bring home your very own rugged cowboy without breaking the bank.

Now, how should you display your newfound beau? Well, the possibilities are endless. Whether you prefer a sleek floater frame to accentuate his rugged charm or a classic mat to add a touch of sophistication, the choice is yours.

So, dear friend, if you're in the market for a dashing cowboy to adorn your walls – or if you simply want to indulge in a little artistic whimsy – look no further than "Perspective," my imaginary boyfriend. After all, who needs Tinder when you have a masterpiece like this?

Happy birthday month to my husband, Brian, and happy shopping to all of you! Let's make April the month of love, laughter, and a touch of artistic romance.

xo,
Beth

Finding Magic in the Uncomfortable

As an artist and a firm believer in magic, I've always found solace, inspiration, and courage within the confines of my studio. There, amidst the swirl of colors and the dance of brushes, I've felt most at home, most myself. Yet, as much as I've cherished this sanctuary, I've also come to realize that true growth often lies just beyond its comfortable borders.

So, here I am, on the precipice of something new and exciting, yet undeniably daunting.

I'm about to step wayyyy out of my comfort zone and share with the world a time-lapse of me painting a piece I've lovingly named "Sun Shiny Day". It's a step that feels comparable to public speaking – a realm I've never been entirely comfortable with.

Unlike my sister Gretchen, who effortlessly commands attention with her words, I've always found myself stumbling over them in moments of public address. The mere thought of it sends my heart racing, my palms sweaty, and my voice quivering. It's as if all the confidence I possess dissipates into thin air at the prospect of being in the spotlight.

But then there's writing – ah, writing! It's my sanctuary within a sanctuary. The art of crafting letters allows me the luxury of time, of reflection, of choosing just the right words to convey my thoughts. It's a medium where I feel most in control, where I can articulate myself without the fear of stumbling over my words.

Yet, as I embark on this new journey of sharing my art through time-lapse videos, I can't help but recognize the magic that lies within this discomfort.

There's a certain freedom in relinquishing control, in allowing myself to be vulnerable, shaky hands and all. In many ways, this venture feels like an extension of my artistic process – a canvas on which I can paint not just with colors, but with vulnerability, courage, and authenticity.

And so, with a deep breath and a leap of faith, I invite you to join me on this journey. Here, amidst the strokes of paint and the swirl of emotions, I hope to capture a glimpse of the magic that lies within each of us. This is my Sun Shiny Day – imperfect, raw, and unabashedly real.

So, I'm hitting that "share" button, shaky hands and all, and inviting you to join me on this wild ride. I've even sped up the video a bit to spare you the sight of my trembling hand – stage fright, even in my own studio, who knew?

Thank you for being a part of this journey, for embracing the magic that resides in vulnerability, and for allowing me to share my Sun Shiny Day with you.

Beth
